Is Hair That You Can Bleach Higher Quality?
Some hair bleaches fast, others slow.
You could be using the same mixture, and keep all variables the same.
Many will assume that the hair which bleaches faster is better quality.
However, some chemicals kind of break down the pigment of the hair making it bleach about 3-5 times faster.
So fast bleaching is a sign of chemical processing, and this chemical processing reduces the quality of the hair.
So if you compare bundles, and only bleach for 45 minutes, you will get a difference in results. So how do you interpret these results?
The limit of bleaching is determined by the elasticity of the hair. Unprocessed hair is fairly strong, and elastic in nature.
If you hold a strand of hair, and pull on it, you will see that the hair is fairly elastic, can stretch, and won’t break.
Bleaching damages this hair, making it thinner and thinner, until at some point it will lose this elasticity.
While the hair might reach #613, the hair is pretty much destroyed and would start shedding.
It’s not about it reaching a specific color quickly, it’s about reaching a color and it not having lost much of the elasticity.
So when it takes a little bit longer to reach a light color, and the hair is still elastic, you don’t have to worry.
It simply means that you have quality hair. Even if it takes hours.
And of course there are other factors which can affect the results.
Darker hair will take a bit longer to bleach than lighter. If there are products in the hair, they might affect the results.
Conditioning the hair before bleaching would close the cuticles, and could affect the results. Simply go by elasticity, not time.
