How to Wash Hair Extensions and Keep Them Looking Fabulous

If you’ve invested in hair extensions, you’ll want to keep them looking fabulous for as long as possible. Hair extensions come in many different forms, such as clip-ins, weaves, tapes and bonds, but they all need to be washed properly to keep them looking their best. Here is a guide to help you with how to wash hair extensions, so your locks remain beautiful for a long time.

First, you should always use a sulfate and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner. These are designed to be gentle on your hair extensions and will help keep the natural oils in the hair, preventing it from drying out. You should use lukewarm water and massage the shampoo into your scalp and hair, working from the roots to the tips. Once all the shampoo is rinsed out, you can apply the conditioner. As with the shampoo, you should start at the roots and work your way down to the tips.

Once you’ve rinsed out the conditioner, you’ll need to gently blot your hair extensions with a towel to remove excess water. You should never rub or wring out your extensions
